Art as an Exploration of Faith
Head of Passes at Steppenwolf Theatre (running through June 9) is a world premier play that takes the Biblical story of Job and translates it into the present day, with the “Job” character being an elderly woman named Shelah living at the “Head of Passes,” an immense area of Louisiana marshland where the Mississippi River meets the Gulf of Mexico. Through a series of events, we see Shelah lose almost everything dear to her. Throughout the play as her faith is tested, we see her wrestle with God and yet never renounce him.

It’s a collection of four original songs or compositions including the bands, Souls, March of Morn, Anu Alphonse and a band that recently went to Istanbul on a missions trip called the Turkey Mission Band (made up of KOIN, Evan Savage, Supper Club, Embers & Envelopes & FreeFall).
